Learn by Doing Photography

If you want to start at the beginning of 2014 our Assignment #1 – Understanding your Aperture.  If you want to jump right in check out this week’s photography assignment!

If you’re curious as to what Learn by Doing Photography is all about read on!

What is “Learn by Doing” all about?

There is so much to learn about photography, but the only way we’re going to get there is by picking up our camera and taking pictures! That is what started these weekly challenges called “Learn By Doing Photography” to help push us forward in photography! To do exactly that… learn… by doing!

A few facts about Learn By Doing:

Do you have to pay to do any assignments or sign up? Absolutely not!

Do you have to do every single assignment? Absolutely not! If you want to do one great! If you’re too busy this week try for next week no obligation what so ever! It’s suppose to be a fun way to push forward!

How often do you post new assignments? I will have a new one up every Friday!

Does it matter if I enter it on FaceBook/DigitalCamFan or DigitalCamFan.com? Either one the point is to get out there and take pictures!

If you enter your picture on FaceBook/DigitalCamFan just add to the wall! Even if it has nothing to do with the assignment perhaps you took a picture you would love to share… post away!

If you enter your picture on DigitalCamFan.com you would enter it at the bottom of a Learn By Doing post.  At the bottom of each post there is a link that says *You are next… Click here to enter! Go ahead and click there to enter. You will be directed to a page that says LinkyTools on the top of the page.

What is LinkyTools? Linky tool is just a tool I use to add your picture to the bottom of the Learn By Doing post. That way anyone can click on your thumbnail and be directed to your site where your picture is at. Anyone can comment on your picture and together we can form a community of people all interested in the same thing… the love of photography!

How do I use this Linky Tool? There will be four questions when you arrive on the page. You will be asked to enter

Step 1 – Link to – This is where you enter the URl where you picture is located.

Step 2 – Caption or Title – Whatever your heart desires as long as it’s less than 15 characters.

Step 3 – Your email and your name (optional)

Step 4 – If you want to decide what your thumbnail will look like use “Let me crop my own picture” if you don’t care choose “auto crop my image” The reason you have to do that step is a thumbnail is an exact square and your picture probably isn’t so to stay uniform on the thumbnails below the picture you need to crop it. Click on from the web and it will take the picture off the link you used on step 1. If there are more then one picture on that page you will be given the option as to which one you want to use.

Once you enter that information a thumbnail of your photo will be posted at the bottom of the Learn By Doing post!O.k. that sounded kinda complicated, but it really isn’t! After you try it once you will see how incredible easy it is!

Do I have to have a blog when using linky tool? You can have a blog or a flickr account wherever you have your pictures online. If you don’t have either of those then I would suggest signing up for a Flickr account so you can share all your amazing photos! It’s simple and fun and more important free! Or start a blog if you have questions about either don’t hesitate to email me!

Do I need a DSLR camera to participate? Use whatever you have digital SLR, point and shoot or camera phone! Anything will work!

Can I edit my photos? Go for it!

What if I have more questions? Email me I would love to chat!

Take Care,
Amy
