Learn by Doing Photography Assignment #9 Abstract Photography

I took a couple abstract photos this morning, the top one was out the kitchen window. I was focusing on the blinds, trying to find some lines. Outside the wind was howling as a blizzard passes through Missoula. We haven’t had this much snow in quite some time. This morning when shoveling the walk there was a least a foot of new snow that fell last night. With the wind blowing it all over the place, it’s a good day to stay inside.  Kids actually have a snow day, so no school for them. They’re curled up on the sofa with their dad watching Ghost Busters right now, good movie for a snow day! When I finish this post I will go join them…

The second picture, I was looking for texture and color which I found in a beet this morning. When I cut it open the red was so brilliant I had to take a close up of it!

Abstract photography – looks at shapes, color, patterns, texture, forms. Focus on a small part or use your depth of field to help bring the focus to a certain area. This week is a fun challenge, most likely you don’t even have to leave your house to find something cool and abstract.

This is an abstract tutorial I found that talks about Depth of Field, some good tips within.

This is one of my favorite videos, an interview with Lester Hayes! Everyone should watch this…
