Learn by Doing Photography #43 – Get Closer

You hear it all the time – When you think you have the shot take a step forward! That is what this week is about… getting closer. But let’s take it one more step and pick the most bland place you think you can shoot. I went with our alley. At first I walked around looking at the frost cover leaves on the ground, trying to get some kind of shallow depth of field thing going on. Then I noticed how blue our garbage can was and that the leaves all had an orange hue about them so I started photographing on top of that instead. The point of this exercise is to look, really look around you and then get closer….


For this picture I had on a 50mm and edited with the florescent WB. One would never guess my background…
