Learn by Doing Photography #30 – Complementary Colors
I was looking for complementary colors this week, walked around town and for some reason couldn’t find anything that was striking to photograph. Well I take that back there was plenty to photography, but I was really looking for orange and blue and didn’t find it. So tonight when we were at home we set up one of our puzzles that has some great vibrant colors. I took some sharp pictures, but accidentally hit the shutter before I was focused on this one. Turns out it was my favorite of the bunch. Something a little different then I was going for, but I liked the colors is showed.
It’s strange how you can like a picture one minute and then when you come back to it the next time you’re not really feeling it. That is how I feel about this photo below. At first I liked the blurry out of focus, thought it showed the rainbow colors in a different way, but today when I look at it it’s making my eyes go all crazy.
Made me think of an interesting thing I learned in class one day long ago that I forgot about. The teacher said “always edit and walk away for a least 15 minutes” when you come back you will know which one you like and don’t like. Especially if you were having trouble deciding between two images.
Here is the orange and blue I set up to show my my favorite two complementary colors.
