Sometimes you take a portrait and it’s perfect! The expression, the composition, the light all comes to perfection. Expressions only last but a moment, the way someone looks at you, a laugh or a serious look. It’s up to us to capture that perfect moment, and Martin did just that! Nice job Martin, thanks for sharing with us today!

I took this photo while on vacation in Vanuatu.
This is Atkin, who is employed to clean the beach of seaweed each day that washes up during the night. I was walking along the road and we stopped to chat for a few moments and I asked if I could take his photo, and he just assumed this wonderful pose. I only took one shot but it was perfect – the angle and expression on his face, the angle of the bamboo he was carrying on his shoulder, the bokeh. The lens was the Sony 50mm prime.
I shot in color and later converted it to black and white which seemed more expressive.
