What is a SD Card?

An SD card is a memory card format for use in portable devices.
SD stands for Secure Digital
SDHC – stands for Secure Digital High Capacity, a lot of the new DSLR cameras will require you to have the high capacity when filming movies.

Format SD card on camera or computer?

When you want to reformat sd card you should do it on your camera instead of deleting through the card reader on your computer. This assures the maximum reliability. When you format your card you erase all the files so you don’t have any lingering files on the card. If you delete you’re not really deleting all the files instead the camera is overwriting on top of the old files. After awhile your memory card might have little file parts hanging around which might result in a corrupted picture. Same reason why we defrag our computers.
