Learning By Doing – Metering off gray

The only way I learn is by doing things over and over! So I am going to do the 1st assignment  as well because we learn by doing not by just reading. One thing I have learned this week working with metering is I have been paying more attention to which direction I turn my dial to open up or close down. I know it seems simple, but without realizing it when I take a picture I turn the dial the wrong way and then back track to find the right settings.

This first picture is a white piece of paper with a few rose pedals on the side for fun. I in manual mode metering what the camera tells me is a perfect exposure:

Next instead of a gray card I use a dark gray sweatshirt to meter off:

And last picture I didn’t change my exposure when I took the gray out of the picture:
